NIA the First Healing Form as a Dance Form to Move Stagnant Energies
NIA. It’s the first healing form as a dance form that healed and moved stagnant emotions out of me, allowing me to cry and release. While this morning I didn’t have tears to release, we danced Britta’s ‘Ocean’ dance that she choreographed and created and I was on the verge of crying several times from the love of feeling like I was in the ocean, and the desire to protect earth.
Imagine dancing, swimming hands with sea turtles, then doing the duck walk. As the energy rises, the waves come in and come out. The symphony shows us when to do the cha cha, when to add in our elbow jabs. (Nia is both a dance form but has martial arts and healing arts embedded within it.) We find ourselves within a water bubble, and some reprieve from the outside crashing waves. This part of the dance was like what we are currently going through…
We danced and swam through turbulence, the snare drum once again cast its net, and we found ourselves finding our way bubbling up with spider hands to the surface. Violins leading our energy and this full energizing concert, we did fist bumps into the air saying we stand for the oceans! This is one of Britta’s calls leading up to Earth Day to protect our precious Earth, and use less plastic. We later did heel squishes, feeling ourselves in the beach sand. Dolphin fin hands when we did the water waltz to slow down our heart rate. Sweeping our arms and looking at the oceans' horizons, we found our way back h-om.
Let u move our souls, feel like a child, heal through dance, and find our way to whatever ways we can to stand up for Earth Mother/Father, our only home.
If you ever feel called to try this dance form, check out Dancing Dragons! Many of Britta’s dance classes are online, but she also has the beautiful studio in Boise (once a church where you can still feel the reverence), and in person classes some weekends.
