4 Practical Solutions for a Sane Yang Fire Horse Year
February is heart health month and it will be necessary to focus on our heart for the whole coming year, as a horse year is associated with the heart time of day. Of course I’m speaking about this in Chinese Medicine/Astrology terms. Our heart is related to the emotions of joy, excitement, or overjoy, conversely with lack of joy or anxiety. Yes, we can overdo joy, and being a horse, I can definitely have too much of a high going and doing fun that I burn myself out, finding myself in bed with headaches. Burnout no matter who your chart animals are can lead to exhaustion. And balance will be challenging, but something for us to strive towards.
So in love of our 4 chambers of the heart, here are your practical solutions to stay sane:
The heart corresponds to our sleep, and so if you struggle with sleep this is a year to focus on good sleep hygiene, but again will be a focus for all of us. This means going to bed on time or early with a book. Be off your devices an hour before bed. Be sure your phone is in airplane mode as well so the EMFs are not affecting your sleep. You may need more minerals to assist you whether through food or supplements. I also help people with Chinese herbs and Amma if you struggle with insomnia. Using essential oils like lavender before bed can be very helpful.
Do not overstimulate your mind with things that bring fear, stress, worry, or shock to the system. So this year, for best health it will be paramount to limit your time with news. And if you must stay abreast, read the news. Do not watch it. You will deplete yourself through overthinking and negative thoughts and fear, if you over spend time here. But also we need to remove or greatly limit movies that are action-packed and that create adrenaline, fear or a stress-response in the body. Make it a priority to find comedies, romance, silly mystery’s or documentaries this year.
Watch spicy foods. If you’re already prone to anxiety or anger, you’ll need to watch this anyway. Too much heat in your food can cause energy to rise to our head, leading to anxiety and anger to erupt. Especially in a year where so many people could easily become hot-headed, we need tools to stay level-headed. Remember, you are what you eat and you have at least 3 meal opportunities a day for health. Eat whole foods, and the rainbow of colors and flavors as a rule.
Focus on your spirituality and your authenticity. These are the most important ways to find balance in a fire year. Those who do this will rise to the top. This is especially important if you’re a business owner or in the public eye. Because of AI there certainly is a lot of false information and even the ability to create videos and information that will look real. We must use great discernment. Again, while the world will look and go mad throwing up more flames with outrage, fear, and disgust, we could all get lost in confusion, delusion or illusions. Keep your peace of mind through coming back to mindfulness practices to find peace. Shakti breath yoga is an excellent way to gain and maintain emotional resilience. I have 3 classes weekly to support you.
Be sure to have part of your spiritual practice out in nature and fresh air. To me, nature is my church. But no matter where you find your practice, be sure to get out and do your grounding with hands on a tree in the winter months, and your feet on the earth when it warms back up.
