Healing Our Own Mama Earth Element for Balance

We are at the end of the metal element season ruled by the lungs and colon, and we are in-between seasons, governed by the earth element once again, before winter is fully here. Being in the Earth element means we have a need to focus on strengthening our stomach, spleen, and pancreas. Everything that needs healing at the root needs to be in the gut. This is bringing online and into balance our own mama earth element. 

In order to do this, with the colder days approaching, be sure to add in more warming foods and less cold and raw. In creating greater nourishment for our digestion, we will want to focus on reducing sweets. Too much of this impairs the spleens and pancreas’ ability to do their job. However, we can add in as much of the whole sweet flavor through foods such as sweet potatoes, yams, brown rice, squash, grapes and sweet apples. When we desire to sweeten something, let us be sure to use a small amount of stevia, monk fruit, real maple syrup or honey. As our digestion improves, we increase our immunity, and brain function.

The spleen governs our will, so we have double forces as we heal this to increase our ability to create lasting healthy habits for the better. If you are out of balance with your earth element, you could have more of a tendency with: worry, obsessive thinking, being indecisive, resistant to change, feel nervous, or forgetful. Also, if you struggle to have compassion, or are desiring a lot of sympathy from others, there can be an imbalance. The body shows us physically this earth element imbalance with sagging muscles, menstrual issues, low blood or high blood sugar, sugar cravings, weight gain, digestive issues, skin issues, low energy, or brain fog.
