In Rhythm With the Wild
Stepping into the void.. No clocks. Just nature’s rhythms. In my circle and calling in all the protection and asking for the answer for which I seek with deep gratitude. Sun rising, birds chirping through the day until their afternoon nap. Extra bug repellant while the birds rest as the mosquitoes come after my face, hands, or ankles.
Sitting with the breath. In each direction giving thanks. Tending to the body to stand and sway with the trees or stretch and take in healing water. Turning throughout the day to face and ask for awareness. The hum of the creek in the distance is a constant peaceful drone. Butterflies dance, a flicker pecks away, nothing but fast moving clouds for hours, thoughts come in and I send them out. Focusing on the spider's invisible web, or the ladybug crawling up the tent, or the ground squirrel stuffing its face nearby. Layers peel off as the heat comes in. Sometimes hunger comes and I drink more water.
I want to quit sometimes from the mundane. The lack of doing, or from my stomach saying it wants to eat. I push on with more water, and because I’m allowing. And, this is only a short time I tell myself. The song of the birds fills my heart again, and carries me through. Green ponderosa pines and wild grass abound. I stare at the clouds again and try to not make them into objects, I don’t need labels and useless thoughts. Bees buzz around hovering near the ground in search. An occasional small plane and its loudness roars through.
A snap of a branch and my curiosity is piqued. Is it from a nearby animal? The day progresses and I sink deeper into the landscape. A fly visits my foot. I think that would be a fun tattoo. Layers of shirts, jackets, a hat come back on as the clouds gather and maintain. The birds keep calling and I keep letting the thoughts float away. The deer pass through the area, and run past me as they fear the hunters that come in the fall. I thank them for allowing me in their area, close to their trail to the creek below. In the night I awake to come out to a billion stars glowing so bright and boldly. I see the constellations I know so well. I am in amazement. Such glory.
By the time the vision quest is ending, I am in rhythm with the wild. I know the patterns of the birds, the deer, the sun. I do not know if the sun will warm me through the day, or if I will have to have every layer on, or even lay in my tent for hours until it warms. I may have to go into my tent during a small rain, or back into the tent at night if the stars aren’t shining because of a cloud covered night. But I do know that when I arrive on the other side, the answers will be in my heart. And the days and weeks following the mystery will continue to reveal. Great mystery loves to share in all its ways. And with pure heart, the insights come through.
If you would like to be guided through your own vision quest, I support this too. I would be honored to guide you. My next vision quest I am holding space for is July 10-12th. All details are at the link below. Blessings of mountain abundance and gratitude.
